Our application process is designed to ensure you are given all of the information you need to make an informed decision about a career with us.
From our website, you'll already have had the opportunity to get a good feel about the areas in which you could join us. The next step is for you to complete and submit an application for your chosen scheme. You can apply here.
1. Click through to the application pages
You'll start by clicking on the name for your chosen scheme. This will take you through to the registration page where you can begin your application.
2. Create an application
To register as a candidate, you'll need to provide your name and contact details when prompted and set a password. Once you've done this, there will be no need to provide your details again when you re-visit our site. From now on, you will also be able to monitor the progress of your application in our 'candidate zone'. In addition, you'll have access to FAQs relating to completing your application and using the online form.
3. Complete our application form
The first stage of the application form consists of a series of eligibility and data capture questions. If you're unsuccessful, you'll know straight away. However, if you are successful, you'll then enter our selection process.
If you have any questions about completing the online application form, please contact the United Utilities graduate recruitment team on 0845 0712981
After completing the application form, we'll take you through the following process.
1. The second stage of the application form will include two types of questions:
Situational questions - These will ask you to provide information on how you would approach a particular scheme relevant scenario.
Competency Based Questions - All of the competencies have been designed to pull out key criteria for the scheme you are applying for, so it's really important when you're giving your examples to think about what you did in each situation.
2. Competency based and scenario based questions reviewed and scored against pre-determined criteria. You will be informed of the result by email within 5 days of your application submission.
3. Successful candidates will be invited by email to complete an online testing session. You will be asked to complete these within 5 days of receiving your invite. Again, you will be informed of the result by email.
4. Successful candidates will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre (scheduled to begin in December 2008 and may run until June 2009). The Assessment Centre will typically include:
. Group Exercise
. Competency/Technical Interview
. Fact Finding Exercise
. Analysis Presentation
5. Successful candidates will be contacted regarding the final offer stage within 2 days of your event.
6. Successful candidates will start with us in September 2009!
