Construction Safety

Construction sites are not playgrounds

Do you know where your children are?
Schools over and the children are out playing. The question is, do you know where? To most children a construction site is the ultimate playground but every year young people are killed and injured on construction sites.

The facts:
Over the past decade, 16 children have been killed whilst playing on construction sites, and over 800 more seriously injured.

Key dangers on construction sites:

Falls from height  Deep excavations  Heavy machinery / plant
Building materials  Confined spaces     Deep water

Protect your children:

  • Are there any construction sites local to where you live, if so ensure your children are aware of the dangers!
  • Construction sites are not playgrounds no matter how inviting they may seem.
  • Get on-line at home with your children and take a look at the link below.

For further information and packs for schools are available on the HSE website.
