We are currently working on the following projects to further improve the quality of the water and wastewater network.
Cleaning and maintenance programme
West East Link Pipeline
Our £125 million pipeline will carry water right across the North West from Prescot Reservoir in Merseyside to Woodgate Hill Reservoir in Bury.
Preston environmental improvements
Our £114 million project in Preston to enable us to reduce the amount of storm water overflowing into the River Ribble during heavy rainfall.
Dukinfield
As part of our commitment to improve the river water quality and clean up the River Tame, over the next 15 months we are planning to build approximately 15 storm overflows across the Dukinfield and Stalybridge area.
Manchester Ring Main
In April 2008 we started work on cleaning and repairing some of the main water pipes that supply customers in parts of Greater Manchester.
Middlewich
In Middlewich we are carrying out a five stage plan to aliviate sewer flooding in the area.
Penketh
We need to increase the size of some of the sewer pipes and build some tanks underground which can store the storm water at times of peak and then pump it back into the system when the water has subsided.
Fylde Coast
Wirral water main cleaning
A 5 year project to clean our major water mains that supply the Wirral. Split up into seperate phases the project began in September 2010 at Gorsehill Reservoir in Wallasey.
Lake District
As part of our commitment to significantly improve the water quality of our rivers, lakes and streams, and provide long term environmental benefits, work is due to start in September 2011 to upgrade the sewer system in Windermere and Keswick.
